Performance Motion Control

Circinetics provides motion control solutions to the live entertainment industry.

Circinetics has worked in concerts, theatre, touring, festivals, live events, ceremonies and permanent installations; in the UK, Europe, Middle East, North America and Asia.

We have worked with performer flying systems, scenic flying, hydraulic lifts, revolves, counterweight assist and robotic arms, and a huge variety of control systems ranging from structured text programming up to full 3D visualisation of performer flights.

Live Shows

Our background is in live shows and it's an area where we continue to excel. Whether touring, resident or one-off, live shows is the bread and butter of what Circinetics was created for.

Live Event Robotics

David has worked with both Kuka and Yaskawa robotics and has unique experience in safely integrating these incredible machines into live event performances.

Installation Experts

David Evans is an experienced automation engineer having provided show automation services to clients including Cirque du Soleil, Stufish, TAIT and PRG prior to starting Circinetics.

David has 12 years of experience in installing and programming systems by TAIT, Stage One, Kinesys and STS; and also has commercial automation experience with Siemens PLCs and Kuka Robotics.

Theatre

Theatre has had a pivotal role in the development of performance automation systems and whilst it is by no means our biggest market it still represents an important segment of the company's work.

Maintenance & Inspection

A core part of the business is the inspection and maintenance of electromechanical equipment which has included both automated and manual stage engineering systems included winches, lifts, hydraulics, chain hoists, counterweight fly systems and hemp sets.

David holds the LEEA Foundation Certificate and is a CM Lodestar approved hoist technician.

Rigging

The oldest part of the business remains in rigging. David started out in rigging in 2010 and has held the PLASA National Rigging Certificate at Level 2 since August 2012.

Circinetics is predominantly focused on automation and motion control, however the large overlap between the disciplines means we can offer an advantageous combined solution - with automation that is sympathetic to the needs of the rigging, rigging that is sympathetic to the needs of the automation, and reduced staffing requirements by being able to serve both departments.

Special Projects

The unique skillsets at Circinetics mean we are often invited to partake in one-off special projects falling outside the scope of the normal market sectors.

These projects have included include elements of designing, building and installing bespoke rigging, electrical and electronic systems; operation of crucial monitoring systems; and managing project-critical health and safety management protocols.

Planning, Health & Safety, Conformity

We have experience being involved in the planning of automation and rigging jobs, providing consulting services such as risk assessment / method statements to EN 17206, lifting plans, equipment specification, and assuring conformity to the latest standards.

We stay up to date with all developments in industry standards and codes of practice and David is presently contributing to the development of new British and European standards.

Bespoke Equipment

Whilst we are not in the business of supplying full automation systems, our work across numerous different suppliers and manufacturers places us well to recommend the best suppliers to work with.

Furthermore we have supplied boutique made equipment to support show productions, working to supply key control features to existing electromechanical systems or to integrate additional I/O.

Camera System

We carry an IP CCTV system which can be supplied alongside Circinetics automation operators to ensure constant visibility of moving elements even where it is not possible to place the operating console in a perfect line of sight to all moving axes. The system offers live view and recording of up to eight cameras simultaneously, each in full HD, with minimal latency.

As well as safety monitoring, the recording facility permits operators and production management to constantly review safe practices, investigate show stops and near misses, and may provide crucial evidence in the event of an accident.

We have a range of IP cameras including bullet and fisheye models and weather-sealed IP67 units, all of which have been prepped for entertainment usage with addition of half couplers, safety bonds, Ethercon connections; and many can be painted to blend in with sets; as well as flightcased NVRs with industry-standard Neutrik connections and export to USB.
